Conservation
Why are OLÉ Members Working on Conservation Issues?
Answer: They're doing it for their kids!
* All of our kids need clean, fun, beautiful parks to play in, so OLÉ Members are working with their Members of Congress to support full funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which has provided funding for many of our city parks across the state. It has also supported many of the state parks that our members use for fishing, hunting, and camping.
* Our kids' health is important. So OLÉ Members support legislation that protects the air our children breathe to reduce the risk of developing asthma or other respiratory ailments and that guards New Mexico's limited water so our families have pure and safe water to drink.
* Part of protecting our air and water includes our fight to develop New Mexico's Clean Energy Economy, so our homes and businesses can have the energy they need without harming our air, land, and water, and so our members can have access to good-paying Clean Energy Jobs.
* Keeping wild lands wild. Whether or not they hunt, fish, or camp, as New Mexicans, OLÉ Members know that our state is a unique land that our families have enjoyed for centuries. We're working to make sure New Mexico's wilderness will be something our children's children, and the generations that follow them, can enjoy, as well.
OLÉ Members meet with their Members of Congress every month to discuss these issues and other concerns we all share, so let us know if you want to join us for one of these next conversations we have with your elected officials.
